Sunspot's Thanksgiving Buffet is satisfying and suitable for the whole family. Indoor Climbing Wall
Head inside West Portal Station to warm up your arm on our indoor climbing wall from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. $10 gets you three times up the wall and tickets are available at Guest Services inside the Balcony House.

The family fun continues from 3 – 4:30 p.m. at the base. Stop by the Zephyr Mountain Lodge fire pit outside of the Discovery Center for more quality time with Winter Park Willie.

Ski and Tele Demo Days
In addition to the mountaintop activities at The Lodge at Sunspot, guests can also take advantage of two demo days featuring the latest 08/09 alpine equipment on Saturday and Telemark equipment on Sunday. Winter Park demo days are from 8:30 – 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and are free to adults over 18 with a valid driver's license.

The season's opening event for the premier series in North America will feature the nation's best skiers as they vie for World Cup starts.

Rocky Mountain Freestyle Mogul Competition
The Rocky Mountain Freestyle Competition is an opening event for the top mogul skiers looking to make the US Ski Team. The weekend's events will be held on Ambush, Winter Park's dedicated freestyle trail viewable from the base.

Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup Men's/Women's Slalom
Watch as the Rocky Mountain's top male & female race qualifiers battle it out on Winter Park Resort's giant slalom course located on the Hughes trail. The Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup features the top regional racing for skiers age fifteen and older is a qualifier for the US Alpine National Championships.

This regional qualifier draws the most elite disabled skiers in North America to compete for a position on the United States Disabled Ski Team. Competitors race in slalom, giant slalom and two super-G events. The race is unique in that it invites many regional able-bodied ski teams to compete as well. It is a key qualifier for the U.S. Alpine Disabled National Championships in March.

Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade
Time: 5:30 pm

The Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade is one of the most beloved Winter Park traditions. The event begins with Christmas carols around the bonfire at the base of Winter Park Resort, next to the Zephyr Lift. At 5:30 pm, a procession of torch-bearing skiers begin their way down Lower Hughes trail, followed by Santa Claus and his helpers. A spectacular fireworks display and snowcats adorned with Christmas colors light up the slopes in a Christmas tree formation to conclude the festivities. Immediately following the show at 6:30pm

Winter Park/Amateur Freeride Series -- King of the Grommets (Slopestyle)
This event is open to those 13 and under who are just starting to compete. King of The Grommets will be held in Dog Patch Terrain Park. The goal is to get Freeriders introduced into slopestyle events without having to step-up to Lower Rail yard. This is every young Freeriders opportunity to begin their plight to becoming Pro!

The 26th Annual Chef's Cup Dinner Dance, "A Taste of Grand County" January 23, 2009 at 7pm at Winter Park Resort's West Portal Station. The Chef's Cup Dinner Dance is a benefit to support the Winter Park Competition Center youth ski and snowboard programs.

USCSA Rocky Mountain Conference Giant Slalom
Regional racing for the US Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association, with team competition among local colleges including Colorado State, Air Force, Colorado Mountain College, Colorado School of Mines, Fort Lewis, and more, hosted by the University of Denver club team. The races will be held on the Hughes trail.

34th Annual Wells Fargo Cup
This event brings together world-class disabled ski racers, Denver celebrities, Broncos alumni along with amateur skiers and snowboarders of all abilities for a weekend of activities to benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD).

University of Denver Invitational
The 2007 National Champion University of Denver Pioneers ski team takes to their home hill to battle 2008 champion University of Colorado and the other western NCAA powerhouse ski teams. The event includes giant slalom races on February 5 & 6 and slalom on February 7 on the Hughes trail.

Invest in Kids Jane-A-Thon
We are delighted to announce the 10th Annual Invest in Kids Jane-A-Thon on March 14th, 2009! The Jane-A-Thon is a pledge-based fundraiser that provides individuals and families an opportunity to raise money to support Colorado's children, all while enjoying a day on the slopes at Mary Jane Mountain/Winter Park Resort. Skiing and changing children's lives – what a wonderful combination!

USSA Rocky/Central J4 Junior Olympics
A championship event featuring the top J4 USSA racers (ages 11-13) in an 18-state region covering Colorado, New Mexico, and Midwest states as far east as Michigan and Ohio. Races will be held on super G, giant slalom and slalom courses on the Hughes trail, with an opening ceremony held at the base of the resort on March 19.

USCSA National Championships
The U.S. Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association returns to Winter Park for its national championship event. Watch for exciting college team competition in giant slalom and slalom alpine racing, and slopestyle, half-pipe, and boarder cross competition for snowboarders.

Spring Blast Party at the Park
Celebrate the coming of spring with Winter Park Resort's Spring Blast. Relax on the decks of Derailer Bar with drink specials and live music, shop 'till you drop at our end of season blowout sales in base area shops, get free bump tips from the Winter Park Ski and Snowboard school, watch the area's best freeride competitors in rail jam competitions and demo's, and don't forget about the season finale Spring Splash. The action is non-stop in April with Winter Park Resort's Spring Blast.

18th Annual Tom's Terrific Cross Country Downhill
Time: 5pm
Location: Race starts at Lodge at Sunspot

This five-kilometer "mostly downhill" fun race benefits junior skiers in the Competition Center. The race begins at 5 pm outside The Lodge at Sunspot atop Winter Park Mountain. The course always involves some uphill sections and follows mostly green terrain. Waves of ten racers start every minute on the equipment of their choice. Past participants have raced on alpine, telemark, cross-country skis, snowboards and ski-boards.

Spring Blast Family Weekend
Family weekend will delight children of all ages with free fun carnival atmosphere including stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters, caricature artists and live music. The Derailer Bar offers up great food and drink specials. Shop 'till you drop at our end-of-season sales and get free bump and tele tips from the Winter Park Ski and Ride School. The action is non-stop with Winter Park Resort's Spring Blast.

Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt and Fun Race
Winter Park Willie and the Easter Bunny deliver holiday fun with an on-mountain candy hunt in Discovery Park as well as a base area egg hunt for children under 5. Coca-Cola® Spring Splash
Winter Park Resort's Coca-Cola® Spring Splash is the oldest tradition of its kind and on its 41st year. Athletes begin at 12pm as spectators watch skiers and riders struggle through obstacles on the Larry Sale trail race course and attempt to skim across an icy pond to reach the finish line and post a time. Live music sets the tone for a closing day party that is totally entertaining and fun.
