Job Opening - Director of Strategic Finance

Position Summary:

Due to the growth in our companies, Brinkman Shared Services, supporting Brinkman Construction and Brinkman Real Estate has a new position available; Director of Strategic Finance and Accounting.  This position will be a senior leader in the company leading and managing high performing teams through strategic thought leadership focusing on operational finance and accounting excellence.

As the right-hand person to the CFO this position is responsible for the overall Brinkman/Brinkman Construction financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of our general contracting construction company and our real estate related operating businesses and real estate investments.

The Director of Strategic Finance and Accounting will play a unique and integral role in supporting the organization and influencing business decisions via the results of systemic scenario planning and what-if modeling.  This position will interact directly with leaders in the organization in the effectiveness of KPI dashboards, long range modeling, financial literacy training and other special projects. They will manage teams that spearhead the monthly accounting and forecasting process including the delivery of comprehensive financial forecasting, reporting packages, ESOP share projections and real estate transaction modeling.  Overall this role will lead enterprise-wide initiatives by providing leading economic indicators about market conditions, opportunities and risk impacting company performance.

Position Type & Expected Work Hours:
This is a full-time position requiring occasional evening & weekend hours as job duties demand.

Location:    Fort Collins, CO

Qualifications & Essential Functions:

  • Experienced manager and leader embracing our core values and encouraging others.
  • Proven success in building high performing teams through trust, engagement and coaching.
  • Leader in helping the organization execute and link financial plans to companywide strategic objectives. Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
  • Provides leadership in long term forecasting including systemic processes for cash flow modeling, incentive compensation planning and ESOP repurchase obligations.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Team and other construction and real estate leaders to successfully identify innovative trends and accomplish business objectives.
  • Understanding of real estate and construction industries, our economy and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with valuation techniques including discounted cashflow modeling.
  • Experience calculating financial metrics including ROI, IRR, NPV, etc.
  • Fundamental understanding of micro and macroeconomic principals.
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and special projects
  • Effective relationship building skills and ability to provide high touch customer service
  • Strong time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Sage Construction Management Software, Yardi Property and Asset Management Solutions and Argus CRE Portfolio Software preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Current driver’s license & valid for the past consecutive 12 months
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

Experience Requirements:

  • Real Estate, Construction Asset Management experience a plus
  • 8+ years management/leadership required

Education Requirements:

  • Finance, Accounting, or Economics degree required
  • MBA or CFA ideal
