Job Opening - Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer

Position Summary:

The Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer is a key position within the company reporting directly to the CEO.  The CMBDO will lead the vision and strategies of connecting our marketing team and marketing budgets to our business development pursuits, revenue goals and company value proposition.  This position will lead the Business Development Team in executing strategies to enhance our ability to identify, pursue and develop meaningful and long term partnership opportunities.    The position will have a high level of understanding of the market, the construction industry and our business model.  Building relationships, understanding our clients’ needs, connecting marketing spend to increased market share and increasing companywide sales opportunities are key to success in this role.   The CMBDO will work collaboratively with our Marketing Director and Marketing Team in being thoughtful about our brand position, our brand enhancement and increasing our brand equity. This position requires a strong leader with experience cultivating relationships to understand customers, managing business development professionals to meet sales goals, connecting marketing initiatives with return on investment, and embracing our core values and vision to contribute to the Brinkman culture. 


Location:  Fort Collins and Denver, CO

Essential Functions:

  • Strong leader of people providing vision and ownership of the construction sales and marketing goals including team dynamics, high performance and customer focused initiatives. 
  • Partners in conjunction with the marketing team to create effective marketing strategies to compete in the marketplace, including market segmentation, value proposition development and pricing and branding strategy. 
  • Continually identifies and develops new client business within our regional market by pursing business opportunities in key industries and cultivating relationships with existing clients.
  • Delivers compelling calls and presentations to introduce Brinkman Construction’s capabilities and value proposition. ​ Negotiates and communicates complex concepts and business issues to a variety of business audiences. ​
  • Collaborates with the Business Development and Marketing teams to identify and evaluate new markets and partnership opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, attendance and participation with various industry and professional groups and networking associations. ​
  • Oversees all aspects of the sales process including formulation of opportunity-specific sales strategy, selection of cohesive pursuit teams and quarterbacking the entire sales process until the final close of the construction or development project. ​
  • Participation in Brinkman Construction’s strategic planning process to help identify and create strategic priorities and timelines to meet our company’s financial and operational goals.  These activities include market and industry analysis, insight and ongoing monitoring of market trends, customer needs and business intelligence.  Ensures strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the pursuit team.​
  • Provides expertise and direction for the day to day management of the construction pipeline.
  • Provides client specific opportunity assessment, market evaluation, market research, financial evaluation, and other marketing needs required throughout the proposal process. ​ Incorporates customer needs and internal and external feedback to create win-win situations.
  • ​Motivates others and provides leadership and accountability to accomplish team goals.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a real-time, dynamic environment.
  • Willing to be adaptable and innovative in communications, team work and customer relations.

Qualifications – Desired Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree with business marketing, construction and/or real estate focus preferred.
  • Strong network within Denver and Boulder communities is mandatory.
  • 10 years of business development and sales experience driving results with large and small partners, specifically in the construction industry.
  • 5 years’ experience managing business development and sales professionals demonstrating a proven record of systemic processes, accountability and exceeding goals. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - strong in negotiations, problem solving and general business acumen.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively using sound business judgement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. 
  • Must have current driver’s license valid for the past 12 consecutive months and acceptable motor vehicle record.
